Free Slouchy Hat/Beret Pattern

I made this slouchy hat using Cats-Rockin-Crochet's free pattern as a guide. I used homespun yarn and instead of cable stitches I threw in two rows of v-stitches. In retrospect, that was stupid because on a windy day I get a chill through those rows. However, it's my new favorite hat and I wear it every chance I get.

So, I had forgotten that this blog was 'yarnover' rather than just 'yo' in the url, so I landed on the wrong site... But I found this precious ditty:

Yo mama is so fat you got her the clapper.
Now when she walks into the room
her thighs slap together
and the lights go on and off!

But that's not really why I came here. I came here to tell you that because of this beret now I have to learn to crochet. And it's all your fault. I have been trying to make a knitted one in a similar style and it looks like crap. It's probably the yarn but maybe not, and I have this amazing silk yarn (fair trade, made by Indian women and recycled from saris) and it is simply BEGGING to go on my head. So now I have to learn to crochet.
I just thought you should know.

LOL - I think everyone should crochet, if just for its superiority over knitting for making structured items. Admittedly, though, I may one day have to knit so I can make clothes - knitting definitely has the upper hand when it comes to pants, shirts and sweaters.

PS - I wear this hat even when it's warm, I love it that much.

Also - shut up about my thighs! ;-)
